Chilli Beer

The Americans are a crazy bunch. Expecially those chaps in the Arizona desert, which is home to 20 million rattlesnakes, various scattered F-16 parts and lizards the size of smoking beagles. All of it baked to a crisp 130 degrees. It’s also a place where a cold beer is pretty damned important.

For crazy Ed Chilleen, of Cave Creek, Arizona, (Population 1,328 including coyotes and cattle) beer was much too important to be trusted to outsiders. So, in 1989, he started brewing his own.

Obviously the thing to do when brewing beer is to put Serrano chillies into the beer. These are the roots of what Ed today calls “Cave Creek Chili Beer” ”
